Easter, Raffle and Craft Afternoon! Easter arrived at St Margarets and some of the Residents took part in themed arts and crafts with the Activities Co-ordinator painting model eggs, making Bunny Rabbits and Easter Chicks with them, Creating Easter pictures, we planted cress in an Easter basket, made cup cakes and held a Raffle with a variety of lovely prizes!
Garden Party & Afternoon Tea Residents, Staff and Relatives were able to enjoy a fun and sun filled afternoon tea in our beautiful garden. We enjoyed listening to the Violinist who is a relative of one of our Residents. There were Raffle prizes donated by local businesses and everyone tucked in to the delicious scones with fresh cream and jam! We hope to make this an annual event so come again next year!
The Owl Sanctuary Visit We were very excited to have a Flying visit from The Folkestone Owl Sanctuary to our Nursing home, bringing with them a variety of beautiful Owls big and small for us to meet. We were able to learn about the Owls, see what they look like up close, how they behave and our residents were lucky enough to able to stroke them. “It sure was a hoot!”
The Christmas Party Residents enjoyed Christmas themed activities including making 3D decorations, centre pieces, tree decorations, they were given the opportunity to create Christmas cards. We had a visit from the Salvation Army who sang carols. Our Christmas Party was a success, with mince pies, drinks, a Raffle that raised £60 and we had live Guitar Music from Trevor the Travelling Troubadour.
Easter Party On 23rd March we had a fun Easter Party with singer Jenny Sinclair who sang some old favourites, a variety of different decades of music, suitable for all. The Residents gathered in the lounge, we had refreshments and cakes, they had a lovely sing-a-long and for those residents who are unable to mobilise Jenny provided a one on one singing session in their rooms.
The Queens 90th Birthday We celebrated the Queens 90th Birthday on the 21st April, the lounge was decorated and the dining area, we hung ‘union jack flag’ themed bunting, made cupcakes, had a nice lunch and watched the Queen on TV.
Hythe Bowls Club visit for the Brooke Cup – As sponsors of Hythe Bowls Club we were invited to attend the Ladies Triple tournament for the Brooke Cup 2016, we were able to take a few residents along during the course of the day, our residents had a lovely day, they watched the teams competing and enjoyed tea and cakes. Anna Morgan, manager of St Margaret’s later joined the club to present the Brooke Cup to the winners of the tournament.
Summer BBQ, Raffle, Quiz and Elvis On Thursday 21st July we have an exciting summer event planned for St Margaret’s residents and their relatives, we will be having a BBQ in our lovely garden, there will be a Raffle and a rock ‘n’ roll Quiz, and we will be joined by a fantastic Elvis impersonator (uh huh…. thank you, thank you very much!)
